Mahendra Sambandan is the owner and chief architect of the Chennai-based architecture and design firm, Studio62. He is a third generation builder and designer who is deeply invested in a career spanning 12 years.

A graduate from School of Architecture and Planning, Anna University and MFA post-graduate from Art Institute of Chicago, Mahendra worked in the US for several years before settling in India.

During his stint in the US, he had designed a mobile HIV/aids health clinic in Africa, which was selected as one of the 10 out of 530 to be part of a traveling exhibition around the world.

His collaborative work with Fashion Designer Angelica Krishna, titled "Arranged Marriage,” was curetted by Marjorie Vecchio and exhibited at The Contemporary Arts Council, Chicago, was covered in The Chicago Reader.

In Chennai, Mahendra heads Studio62 with a group of designers and makers, sometimes designing, sometimes fabricating, most often doing both. His portfolio includes hospitals, colleges, industrial offices and luxury condos and residences.
